The IID offers the flexibility to work from home on Mondays and Fridays and report to the office Tuesday-Thursday.  Whether you are in high school, college, or law school - we have an internship opportunity for you.

High School Internship Program

The Iowa Insurance Division has paid internship opportunities available for high school juniors and seniors that are at least 16 years of age.  Interns will receive one-on-one mentorship, personalized training, early exposure to a possible career pathway and the opportunity to earn an Associate Professional in Insurance Regulation Designation. Insure Your Future Early Stage College Internship Program

Enforcement Clerkship

The clerkship, under the guidance of an experienced attorney, will work within the Enforcement Bureau of the Iowa Insurance Division in Des Moines. This bureau prosecutes enforcement actions for the Iowa Insurance Division. The bureau also works with the Market Regulation Bureau to provide legal advice and assistance to investigators as they process complaints.

Clerkship responsibilities include:

  • Assisting attorneys with legal drafting, conducting discovery, and preparing for hearings.
  • Drafting responses to complainants, letters of inquiry to insurance companies, and investigating consumer complaints.
  • Assisting consumers filing complaints and answering their questions about insurance.
  • Conducting legal research in the area of insurance and securities.
