The Iowa Insurance Division licenses companies selling portable electronics insurance in the state of Iowa. Portable electronics insurance means a contract providing coverage for the repair or replacement of portable electronics against any one or more of the following causes of loss: loss, theft, mechanical failure, malfunction, damage or other applicable perils.
To obtain a portable electronics insurance limited license, a portable electronics vendor shall submit to the Iowa Insurance Division a completed portable electronics insurance limited license application, certificate, and fee.
Iowa Code section 522E and Iowa Administrative Code rule 191-10.51(2) require a portable electronics insurance limited licensee to provide written notification of a name or address change to the Iowa Insurance Division within 30 days of the change. This requirement applies to any change, in any location, in which the portable electronics insurance limited licensee is doing business.
To renew the license, submit a completed renewal form every three years, certificate (if applicable) and fee.
To voluntarily surrender a portable electronics insurance limited license, please submit to the Iowa Insurance Division a request that includes the portable electronics insurance limited licensee name and FEIN.
