A residential service contract company agrees to maintain, repair or replace structural components, appliances or electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling or air-conditioning systems or provide expense reimbursements in residential properties containing not more than four dwelling units.

The residential service contract company that issues the residential service contract and is obligated to arrange for the performance of services must be licensed with the Iowa Insurance Division. To become licensed, submit the Service Company License Report form to service.companies@iid.iowa.gov.  An email will be sent with a PIN letter and instructions to complete the licensing process.  To renew your license, complete the Service Company License Report form and follow the Filing Instructions

These business entities must comply with the requirements in Iowa Code chapter 523C and Iowa Administrative Code chapter 191-103.
