The Iowa Insurance Division is responsible for issuing licenses or authority for many types of regulated individuals dealing with insurance related products. See the information below on how to renew your license or authority. Please complete the appropriate forms to request a change of name or doing business as (DBA) name, change of address, or to voluntarily surrender a license. Insurance Producers
Insurance producers who maintain a valid email address with the Iowa Insurance Division will receive a courtesy renewal reminder approximately 60 days before their license expires. Within 60 days of license expiration, all resident and non-resident Iowa insurance producers should complete the renewal application and submit the renewal fee through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) online system. Iowa resident insurance producers with lines of authority requiring continuing education must be compliant before renewing.
In many instances, unlicensed personnel assist licensed insurance producers. Both the licensed insurance producer and the unlicensed personnel need to be aware of what unlicensed personnel may or may not do.

Public Adjusters
Public adjusters who maintain a valid email address with the Iowa Insurance Division will receive a courtesy renewal reminder approximately 60 days before their license expires. Within 60 days of license expiration, all resident and non-resident public adjusters should complete the renewal application and submit the renewal fee through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) online system. Resident and non-resident public adjusters must be compliant with continuing education requirements before renewing. During the application process through the NIPR online system, you will also need to submit evidence of financial responsibility, your customer contract, and the public adjuster checklist and attestation.

Navigators
Within 60 days of license expiration, the Iowa Insurance Division will send a courtesy renewal reminder to the navigator’s affiliated entity. Individuals wishing to continue as a licensed Iowa navigator must apply to renew their license and pay the appropriate fees prior to the expiration date of the license. Navigators must be compliant with continuing education requirements before renewing. All active Iowa navigators must be currently affiliated with a navigator entity holding a current federal navigator grant.

Viatical Settlement Brokers
A viatical settlement broker license may be renewed by demonstration of completion of continuing education as required in subrule 191-48.3(5), payment of $100 within 90 days prior to the expiration date of the license, and completion of the Viatical Settlement Broker License Application every three years as required by Iowa Code section 508E.3.
