Des Moines, Iowa - Following an investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau, a Waterloo man and woman have been charged with insurance fraud.
Dale Lee Rawlins, age 43, of Waterloo was charged with one count of Insurance Fraud - Fraudulent Submissions (Class D Felony).
Janette Kay Rompot, age 39, of Waterloo was charged with one count of Insurance Fraud - Fraudulent Submissions, Conspiracy (Class D Felony).
The charges against Rawlins and Rompot stem from an investigation which began in July 2022. According to criminal complaints filed by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau, Rawlins made false statements to an insurer in connection with an auto insurance application and Rompot aided in this illegal act.
On August 25, 2022, Rawlins turned himself into the Black Hawk County Jail. Rawlins posted a $5,000 bond and was released.
On August 27, 2022, Rompot was arrested and booked into the Black Hawk County Jail. Rompot posted a $5,000 bond and was released.
