Des Moines - Doreen Renee Townsend, age 59, of Eldridge, was sentenced on January 31, 2024 to two years probation after pleading guilty to one count of Insurance Fraud - Presenting False Information (Class D felony), one count of Forgery (Class D felony), and Theft in the Second Degree (Class D felony). The charges stem from an investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau that began in November 2022.
Townsend submitted altered and/or falsified medical records to her insurer in order to obtain disability insurance benefits to which she was not entitled. Townsend was licensed as an Iowa insurance producer at the time of the offenses. On July 12, 2023, Townsend’s insurance producer license was revoked.
