Des Moines – Gregg Moyer, age 43, of West Des Moines, pleaded guilty on May 27, 2025 to one count of Identity Theft and one count of Insurance Fraud-Fraudulent Submissions. Moyer was sentenced to probation for a period of two years, and civil penalties as well as restitution.
The charges against Moyer stem from an investigation that began in October 2024. According to a criminal complaint filed by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau, Moyer submitted an application for a life insurance policy in the complainant's name, without the complainant's knowledge or consent. The defendant falsified critical personal information.
On January 30, 2025, Moyer was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail.
