NOTICE OF MEETING REGARDING HEALTH CARE COSTS

Pursuant to Iowa Code Section 505.8, subsection 18, the Iowa Insurance Commissioner convened a work
group on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 composed of the consumer advocate, health insurance carriers, health
care providers, small employers that purchase health insurance and individual consumers to consider ways
to reduce the costs of providing health insurance coverage and health care services to Iowa. Information
was shared concerning proposed ways to reduce administrative costs and underlying unnecessary health
care expenses.
It was determined to convene another meeting regarding health care costs at a later date in 2011 to accept
additional proposals and information. Recommendations made by the work group will be included in the
annual report filed with the General Assembly as required under Iowa Code section 505.18 regarding
health insurance and health care costs.
