OPTION 1: Submit an Objection Notification for an Umpire previously agreed upon & Submit Request for a randomly selected umpire by the Iowa Insurance Division (IID)
If a party believes a selected umpire lacks proper qualifications or there is a conflict of interest, no later than five (5) business days after the umpire has been selected, any involved party (including policyholders or the appraisers) shall send the objection notice to all parties involved in the appraisal.
The objection notice to the Division will occur through this form and the Iowa Insurance Division will respond with a randomly selected umpire from the IID licensed umpire list.
OPTION 2: Submit an Objection Notification for a randomly selected umpire previously provided by the Iowa Insurance Division (IID)
The Division will notify all parties (appraisers and the randomly selected umpire by IID) that an objection has been received for the current umpire assignment.
A party may then make a formal request to a Judge of an Iowa Court, located in the jurisdiction where the property is situated, for selection of a properly licensed umpire while giving deference to the list maintained by the Division, unless either the claimant or insurer provides a good cause for an alternative selection to be made.
OPTION 3: Submit a notice of an objection pursuant to 522F.12 of the Iowa code.
The Iowa Insurance Division will acknowledge receipt of the objection notification.
